Anybody notice

How many books are out about bored married women? Or about the independent New York female who discovers she's really not so independent when she falls head over heels for the Starbucks guy? Everything is so predictable these days. I wish someone would recommend a good book for me. I'm sick of all these hits or misses.

Got me thinking...

When you're a little kid, you're a little bit of everything. Artist, scientist, athlete, scholar... Sometimes it seems like growing up is the process of giving those things up. One by one. I guess we all have one thing we regret giving up. One thing we really miss. That we gave up because we were too lazy or, we couldn't stick it out or, because we were afraid.
-The Wonder Years
This quote has got me thinking. When I was younger, I was good at everything...seriously. Now, I feel like I'm just, here...slowly wasting away. I used to be a really great artist. But after high school I don't think I picked up another paintbrush. Do talents like that fade? One time I tried to explain to a colleague why I didn't pursue a career in something more creative. Basically, it was because I was scared. Scared of failing in something I cared a lot about. So I chose something I knew I could do. That's terrible right?
I think I'm going through a quarter life crisis.

Sex in the City

Yes, I was a part of the frenzy. I got all dolled with my friends to celebrate the movie coming out. When I finally got to see it it was just as fun as I'd hoped it would be. I think because you can see a little bit of yourself in all the characters, and you see your friends too. That's what makes it so fun. It's like watching yourself on screen, except that they might be a little more fashion fabulous. Anyways I took this corny quiz online to see which character I'm most like. I'm Carrie. Cute.

You scored as CARRIE
"You know what you want out of a relationship and you're not afraid to keep moving until you get it. Wit and charm are your biggest turn-ons, and you like guys who appreciate you for your mind as much as your body. You have fun playing the dating game, but secretly you just can't wait to find the guy who sweeps you off your feet and carries you into the sunset. "

I've got to do better...

With my blog of course. I have so much stuff running through my head that I want to write about that by the time I get home I forget about it. So...I pledge to myself to work on that.

Not enough?

Do you ever feel like you don't do enough?

I mean, my heart gets heavy when I look up the news and I see "18,000 Buried Under Debris in China" or "Myanmar Cyclone kills 8,000." I guess I feel guilty because the majority of my day is about me and my worries which are so small compared to what these people (and others) are going through. I'm a good person but sometimes I feel like I don't do enough. Anyhow, the Red Cross does make it easy to give something even if your busy. You can go on their website to donate to the victims of these disasters. The minimum is $10 but you can give as much as you like. It's not much but it's a start.

The new thing...Cougarism

So apparently the new trend is Hollywood, other than baby bumps, in Cougarism. This term is meant to describe an older woman that tends to "prey" on younger, more vivacious men. I don't really like the verb "prey" to describe it because I personally see no reason why someone can't love someone younger than them. Granted, it tends to be more socially acceptable to have the older man-younger woman union, the reverse is rapidly on the rise. Take for example - Demi Moore, Kim Cattrall, Star Jones (supposedly), Tamika Somethin (Usher's wife) and Jennifer Aniston.

"That Baby Don't Look Like Me"

Who thought this song was cool? And why are the radio stations playing it? I mean I know not to expect much from someone named "Shawty Putt" but why keep perpetuating the stereotype? So you can make a couple bucks with this sorry excuse for a song? Ahhhhh!

Google the lyrics...you'll see what I mean.
